Browsing the old journal we find a page that drags our attention, we can just translate the words: last stand.

This is an old drawing of mine I did long ago when I was playing Dark Age of Camelot, a good friend used to play a paladin and he asked me if I could draw his character.

I remember once we had a great adventure, we were fighting our way into the enemy’s lair but we got outnumbered. It was obvious that we were going to die, when suddenly our paladin shouted to the party: “Run, I’ll hold ‘em!” …and he did. He bought enough time to save our healer. Little actions like that are what makes your gaming feel epic.

Going back to the drawing, as you can see the influence that Warhammer has on my style is quite evident. I could easily said this is a Knight of the Grail. In any case the spirit is the same. I wanted to capture the attitude of the tanking archetype: brave, commanding, tough, confident and loyal …until the end.

Imagine for a moment a well seasoned witch hunter. Not your normal zealot but a truly templar of Sigmar. A man trying to understand a world plagued by Chaos. An educated swordsman with taste for drawing and writing.

Such a man surely would have an interesting journal. Think about the notes he would have written, the things he would have witnessed in his long career as a witch finder. The people, the places, the stories…

What if somehow you get hold of this forgotten journal from this nameless warrior. I guess it would look something like this…

Hammerfall

A couple of years ago I visualized this mighty battle between a choppa and an ironbreaker. A mighty orc against a courageous dwarf. The little one is usually the underdog…  but as much as I love greenskins my heart is with the dawi.

I haven’t timed myself working on this drawing but I reckon it took roughly over 20 hours solid. I called the drawing Hammerfall, but a good friend of mine likes to call it “Ground & Pound”. Mix Martial Artists would agree with the name :P

I’m a volunteer artist at the Warhammer Vault. Using the Endings and Beginnings drawing I decided to make a wallpaper. Photoshop is my main tool at work and I really like to mess about with layers.

Let’s start with a drawing I just finished. It’s called Endings and Beginnings.  I’ve used ball-point pen and it took many lunch hours at work to complete :P

My artwork is hugely influenced by artists and writers from Games Workshop and the Black Library. So I decided to start a blog where to show my drawings and illustrations inspired on Warhammer’s universe.

My favourite technique is ball-point pen on paper. I’ve a fascination for black & white. The beauty of working with ball-point pen is that there is little room for mistakes, there is not an undo button.

Please feel free to leave your comments and thoughts, they’re going to be appreciated. I’ll be uploading old and new artwork as well as sketches and doodles with ideas that are always swirling in my mind.

I’m playing Warhammer Online in the european server of Burlok Karak Norn. I’m a proud member of Grom Karaz.
